  1. I loved reading THE EASTER CONFESSION, so I bought a copy of CARRIE WELTON when I went to the Mattatuck Museum. It was very well done, but I would like to know who erected the fountain in her honor. I was always told that her father had after she died. Is there any truth to the fact he was abusive and died before her?

    • Please forgive me for not seeing this question until now! I haven’t been very attentive to my webpage, I guess. Thanks for the kind words for The Easter Confession and Carrie. As to Carrie’s father, he died in 1874, long before she did, so he had nothing to do with the erection of the fountain. According to what historical information on him that I could find, he was a tough character and I think may have been tough on Carrie, too.
